The Battle of Shelbyville took place after the Battle of Hoover’s Gap had ceased. After several fatalities and fights, General Bragg took charge towards Chattanooga, and General Rosecrans followed suit — eventually capturing the area on September 8, 1863.

Middle Tennessee is chock full of intriguing civil war battles, history, and stories. Our region was one of the most pivotal moments in the entire war, and Shelbyville’s participation is no exception.
